Softest, Tastiest Chocolate Chip Cookies

These chocolate chip cookies are soft, chewy, and will melt in your mouth

Chocolate chip cookie recipes have been around for many years. It's always fun to experiment with different versions. You can make substitutions such as peanut butter chips, or whatever your favorite flavors may be.

A basic recipe is always good to have, however, and this is one of the best we have ever tasted.

Softest, Chewiest Chocolate Chip Cookies
(about 36 cookies)

¾ cup butter flavored shortening
1 ¼ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 Tablespoons whole milk
1 Tablespoon vanilla

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
¾ teaspoon baking soda

1 cup chocolate chips

1 egg

-Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
-In a large mixing bowl, combine shortening, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla.
-Mix at medium speed until thoroughly blended.
-In a small bowl, beat the egg.
-Add egg to mix and stir.
-In a separate bowl, toss flour, salt, and baking soda.
-Add dry mix to dough.
-Add chocolate chips and fold in.

Use a teaspoon to drop dough onto cookie sheet. Separate by about 3 inches.
Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes for soft cookies. For firmer cookies, bake for up to 13 minutes. Do not overbake. Remove to cool.
